D40MS / D407

Die D40MS/407 ist bis auf Schwung- und Lenkrad aus massivem Messing gefertigt und komplett mit Klarlack überzogen. Die Messing-Bauteile führen dann zu ca. 500 Gramm Mehrgewicht gegenüber dem normalen Traktor D40. 

Die Änderung der Nomenklatur von D40MS in D407 erfolgte im Jahre 1986.

Die D40MS mit der alten Fraont der Dampfwalze hatte - wie die Messing-Walze auch - ein kurzes Dach. Mit der Einführung der neuen Front Mitte der 1980er wurde aber auch bei den Messing-Modellen auf ein langes Dach bis über den Kamin hinaus umgestellt. Offenbar ist man bei Wilesco auch hier wieder einmal nicht sortenrein gewesen: wie sonst hätte eine D407 mit neuer Front und kurzem Dach den Weg in meine Sammlung gefunden?

Except for the flywheel and steering wheel, the D40MS/407 is made of solid brass and completely covered with clear lacquer. The brass components lead to an additional weight of approx. 500 grams compared to the normal Traktor D40.

The change in nomenclature from D40MS to D407 took place in 1986.

The D40MS with the old head of the steamroller had - like the brass roller - a short roof. With the introduction of the new front in the mid-1980s, however, the brass models also switched to a long roof extending beyond the chimney. Apparently, Wilesco didn't sort things out here either: how else would a D407 with a new front end and a short roof have found its way into my collection?
