Auch die D18 ist wieder ein Kind des Wilesco-Baukastens. Man nehme eine D20, ersetze das Aggregat durch das der D16, packe noch einen Satz M66/2 dazu, lackiere dieses in einer auffälligen Farbe und fertig ist ein neues Modell.
Interessant ist an der D18 allerdings, dass hier ein paar Dinge eingeführt wurden, bevor man diese im gesamten Sortiment findet.

Also the D18 is again a child of the Wilesco construction kit. Take a D20, replace the unit with the D16, add another set of M66 / 2, paint it in a flashy color and you're done with a new model.
It is interesting to the D18, however, that here a few things were introduced before they are found in the entire range.
So hat diese Maschine schon keine seitliche Kondenswasserschale mehr, sondern die unter dem Kamin, welcher somit richtig dampft. Dieses bewirbt Wilesco auch im Katalog von 1997 mit dem Hinweis "Live Steam".

So this machine has no more lateral condensation bowl, but under the chimney, which thus steams properly. Wilesco also advertises this in the 1997 catalog with the reference "Live Steam".
Desweiteren hat die D18 schon in 1997 die schwarzen Bedienelemente (Handräder und Brennergriff). Also gut 2-3 Jahre vor den anderen (außer D21).

Furthermore, the D18 already had the black controls in 1997 (hand wheels and torch handle). Well, 2-3 years before the others (except D21).
