ein neues Lokomobil - a new locomobile

Wir alle kennen die D430 und wer meine Projekte verfolgt hat weiß, dass ich ein großer Fan dieses Modelles bin. Doch im Vergleich mit einem Lokomobil, wie es damals in der Landwirtschaft eingesetzt wurde, ergeben sich doch einige Unterschiede.

We all know the D430 and anyone who has followed my projects knows that I am a big fan of this model. However, there are a few differences compared to a locomotive, as was used in agriculture at the time.

Die dampfbetriebenen Lokomobile waren damals deutlich einfacher ausgeführt: kleines Kesselhaus, mittig angeordneter Zylinder, Halterung von Zylinder und Schwungrad getrennt voneinander und Räder, welche maximal einfach waren und optisch dem Schwungrad ähnlich waren. Und natürlich nicht in Messing-Schwarz.

The steam-powered locomobiles were of a much simpler design back then: a small boiler house, a cylinder arranged in the middle, the cylinder and flywheel being held separately from one another, and wheels which were as simple as possible and were similar in appearance to the flywheel. And of course not in brass black.

Also habe ich mir überlegt, wie so etwas auf Basis von Teilen aus Lüdenscheid aussehen könnte.

So I thought about how something based on parts from Lüdenscheid could look like.

Man nehme also ein Kesselhaus, den Kessel, das Schwungrad und die Vorderachse samt Räder von der D405. Dann noch einen Zylinder der D22, die Kurbelscheibe der D430 und zwei Schwungräder der D20 als Hinterräder. Garniert mit einem eigenen Lagerbock für die Schwungradwelle entsteht ein entsprechend ausgeführtes Lokomobil.

So you take a boiler house, the boiler, the flywheel and the front axle including wheels from the D405. In addition a cylinder from the D22, the crank disk from the D430 and two flywheels from the D20 as rear wheels. Garnished with my own bearing block for the flywheel shaft, a suitably designed locomotive is created.

Bei diesem Aufbau waren noch nicht einmal Änderungen an den Anschlüssen des Kessels notwendig. Der Anschluss für die Pfeife bei der D405 wurde zum Anschluss für das Dampfventil. Das Sicherheitsventil sitzt in der originalen Position. Die M5-Buchse des bisherigen Dampfventils dient nun zur Befestigung des Lagerbockes.

With this setup, changes to the boiler connections were not even necessary. The whistle connector on the D405 became the vapor valve connector. The safety valve is in the original position. The M5 socket of the previous steam valve is now used to attach the bearing block.

Lediglich für die Aufnahme der Vorderachse musste ein zusätzliches Loch in den Kessel eingebracht werden. Hier habe ich den originalen Befestigungsbolzen der D430-Vorderachse eingelötet.

An additional hole had to be made in the boiler only to accommodate the front axle. Here I soldered in the original fastening bolt of the D430 front axle.

Die Schwungräder als Hinterräder ergeben die gewünschte Optik. Für den optisch passenden Radstand habe ich auf jeder Seite eine neue Bohrung in das Kesselhaus eingebracht.

The flywheels as rear wheels give the desired look. For the optically matching wheelbase, I drilled a new hole in the boiler house on each side.
