Von meinem lieben Sammler-Freund Frank habe ich eine nagelneue D409 Showmans Engine bekommen können.

From my dear collector friend Frank I got a brand new D409 Showmans engine.
Auf den ersten Blick sieht die D409 so aus, wie bereits zu ihrer Einführung 1990.

At first glance, the D409 looks like it did when it was introduced in 1990.
Vergleicht man diese neue Maschine allerdings im Detail mit der ersten Ausführung, dann fallen einem schon ein paar Unterschiede auf.

However, if you compare this new machine in detail with the first version, then you will notice a few differences.
Auffälligster Unterschied ist der Dynamo: auf der aktuellen Version ist der bekannte schwarze Dynamo mit Kunststoffgehäuse verbaut, welcher auch als M66 und M66/2 bekannt ist. Anfang der 1990-er war der M66 allerdings noch der Dynamo mit grün lackierten Gussgehäuse. Extra für die D409 gab es hier eine schwarz lackierte Version des Dynamos.

The most striking difference is the dynamo: on the current version the known black dynamo with plastic housing is installed, which is also known as the M66 and M66 / 2. In the early 1990s, the M66 was still the dynamo with green painted cast iron housing. Extra for the D409 there was a black painted version of the Dynamo.
Ein weiterer Unterschied ist die Schwarz-Färbung der Räder: bei der alten Version offenbar brüniert, aktuell wohl lackiert.

Another difference is the black color of the wheels: in the old version apparently burnished, currently well painted.
Und dann findet man natürlich noch Unterschiede, welche nicht D409-spezifisch sind: Metallventil an der Alten, Plastik an der Neuen. Lackierte Nieten am Kesselhaus bei der Neuen, nicht lackierte bei der Alten.

And then of course you still find differences that are not D409 specific: metal valve on the old, plastic on the new. Lacquered rivets on the boiler house at the new, not painted in the old..
Gleiches gilt für den Brenner: bei der neuen natürlich der aktuelle Brenner mit Wilesco-Logo, bei der Alten der glatte schwarze Griff.

The same applies to the burner: in the new the current burner with Wilesco logo, in the old the smooth black handle.
Auf alle Fälle bin ich froh wieder ein schönes Stück meiner Sammlung hinzufügen zu können.
