A D48 as Graupner-version.
Die D48 stellt die 2-zylindrige Ausführung der Dampfmaschinen von Wilesco für den Boots-Einsatz dar. Für einen entsprechenden Einsatz erfolgt die Befeuerung nicht
über Feststoff-Tabletten, sondern mit Gas. Hierzu ist ein entsprechnder gastank integriert. Großer Vorteil der 2-Zylinder ist, daß ein Selbstanlaufen der Maschine möglich ist. Dieses vereinfacht
den Einsatz in ferngesteuerten Modellen doch erheblich.

The D48 represents the 2-zylinder design of steam engines Wilesco made for boats. For an appropriate use, the lighting is not done via solid tablets, but with gas. For this purpose a gas tank is integrated. The great advantage of the 2-cylinder is that a self-starting of the machine is possible. This simplifies the use in radio-controlled models.
Ich habe ja bereits eine D48 in meiner Sammlung. Allerdings wurde die D48 nicht nur von Wilesco vertrieben.

Es gab auch einen Vertrieb durch die Firma Graupner, welche diese Maschine als Ergänzung zu einigen Ihrer Schiffs-Bausätze angeboten hat.

The D48 was also offered by the company Graupner as engine for some of their scale ship models.
In beiden Einbauanleitungen findet man dann auch die gleiche Zeichnung.

In both manuals for installation same drawings can be found.
Der hauptsächliche Unterschied der Ausführungen von Wilesco direkt und Graupner liegt in der Ausführung Der Antriebswellen: Wilesco bindet die Antriebswelle direkt in das Aggregat ein und treibt diese über zwei Metall-Zahnräder an.

The main difference between the Wilesco and the Graupner-version can be found in the drive shaft: Wilesco integrates the driveshaft in the setup of the engine and drives the shaft with two steel gears.
In der Graupner-Version hingegen ist ein Kunststoff-Ritzel neben dem Schwungrad angebracht und die Antriebswelle inkl. weiterem Zahnrad wird lose beigelegt.

Within the Graupner-Version a plastic gear can be found beside the flywheel. The driveshaft itself including a second gear is delvered separatly.
Die separat gelieferte Welle ermöglicht dann einen flexiblen Einbau in das jeweilige Modell. Das Bild zeigt den Einbau der D48 Graupner in das Modellboot Glasgow.

Meine D48 von Graupner ist zum Glück noch komplett. Es ist nicht nur die originale Verpackung dabei, sondern auch sämtliche Einzelteile.

Sogar der originale Kassenzettel ist noch erhalten. Demnach wurde diese Maschine am 17. Juni 1996 gekauft.

Even the original receipt is included. It shows the date of the purchase as 16th of June 1996.
Die Datierung der Einführung der D48 steht noch aus. Allerdings ist Sie in der Preisliste 1994 aufgeführt. Damals noch zu einem Preis von 395DM. In der Preisliste
2014 gibt Wilesco diese Modell nun allerdings als Auslaufmodell an.

The year of introduction I do not know so far. But the D48 is shown in the catalog of 1983. The pricelist of 2014 shows this model as to be shut down in that year.
