Eine alte D4 hat sich zu meiner Sammlung gesellt.

An old D4 was added to my collection.
Die alte D4 ist praktisch baugleich mit einer D5, nur hat die D4 keine Dampfpfeife. Dementsprechend ist auch hier ein Kessel ohne Wasserstandsglas zu finden. Daher wurde diese Maschine ab Mitte der 1970-er auch nur noch in Export-Märkten verkauft, da die deutschen TÜV-Vorschriften ein Wasserstandsglas vorschrieben.

The old D4 is basically the same as a D5, but the D4 has no whistle. Accordingly, here there is no glas in front of the boiler to check the water-level. Therefore, this machine was only sold in export markets from the mid-1970's, as the German TÜV regulations prescribing a glass gauge.
Da meine D4 noch den flachen Griff am Brenner hat, muss diese Maschine vor Mitte der 1970-er hergestellt worden sein.

As this D4 still has the flat handle on the burner, it is supposed to be produced before mid of the 1970's.
Dazu passt auch der ovale blaue Wilesco-Aufkleber.

The blue oval Wilesco-logo also supports that dating.
Weiteres Zeichen für eine frühe Ausführung: das 6-Speichen-Schwungrad.

Of course this one also has the 6-spoke-flywheel.
